Lakeland University Institution Rules, Policies, & Information (All Students)

The following institutional policies, rules or information applies to all Lakeland students. Students who believe they have legitimate grounds for appealing or being excluded from the requirements of any Lakeland academic policy included in this catalog should address those appeals to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

General Standard of Conduct

Lakeland University’s seeks to provide an environment for all students that is conducive to personal growth, academic endeavor, individual responsibility, and respect for the rights and privileges of others. To implement regulations, Lakeland relies primarily on each student’s personal sense, honor, humanity, and responsibility.
All students are expected to:
- Treat one another with respect, dignity, and sensitivity.
- Not abuse or misuse university property or the property of others.
- Act with concern for the well-being and safety of others.
- Conduct all university activities according to local, state, and federal laws.
In the rare instance that disciplinary action is warranted, the university will follow the behavioral suspension or dismissal procedures.

Policy on Non-Discrimination

Lakeland University provides equal educational and employment opportunity without regard to sex, race, age, religion, national origin, marital/parental status, or handicap. All equal opportunity questions should be referred to the university’s President. Lakeland University is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.

Clery Act

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, also referred to as the Clery Act, requires that colleges and universities whose students receive federal financial aid do the following:

To publish an annual security report regarding crimes committed on the home campus and all center locations.
To provide a written description of campus policies regarding security and campus safety rules.
To compile and disclose an annual report of campus crime statistics reflecting reports of specific crimes occurring on campus, and whether such crimes are hate crimes.
To alert the campus community to crimes that represent a threat to campus students and campus personnel.
To disclose a daily crime log listing all crimes occurring within the authority of the campus security office.

The Senior Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is responsible for the implementation of the above-listed tasks.
