Students who have successfully completed a B.A. in Management from Lakeland University should be able to:

  • Explain major concepts within functional areas of industry.
  • Construct and present effective oral and written forms of professional communication.
  • Identify key leadership challenges and ethical issues related to the contemporary workplace.
  • Evaluate responsible and effective workplace behaviors, skills, and traits in a professional business environment.

Students must complete one of the following course tracks:


Students must complete an emphasis with the Management major. These are the recommended emphases that pair well with the Business, Finance & Economics Track:

Cooperative Education (22-26 semester hours)

Human Resource Management (12-13 semester hours)

A student may not earn both areas of emphasis if available to their major (or if selecting as an optional emphasis to add-on). It must be one or the other.

  • Human Resource Learning and Development or Human Resource Management
Student Designed (12 semester hours)

  • Students may propose a twelve (12) semester-hour emphasis in an area of academic interest that complements their major in the J. Garland Schilcutt School of Business & Entrepreneurship

Students may fulfill the emphasis requirement by completing current courses offered by the College of Business and Science, courses offered in other College of Humanities and Education, cooperative design courses, or internship experiences that are relevant to an area of interest

Sustainability (13-14 semester hours)

Students must complete an emphasis with the Management major. These are the recommended emphases that pair well with the Communications, Design, Leadership Track:

Cooperative Education (22-26 semester hours)

Hospitality Management (12-20 semester hours)^

A student may not earn both areas of emphasis if available to their major (or if selecting as an optional emphasis to add-on). It must be one or the other.

  • Hospitality Management or Restaurant Entrepreneurship
Leadership (12 semester hours)

Restaurant Entrepreneurship (12-20 semester hours)^

A student may not earn both areas of emphasis if available to their major (or if selecting as an optional emphasis to add-on). It must be one or the other.

  • Hospitality Management or Restaurant Entrepreneurship
Student Designed (12 semester hours)

Notes:


  • A student who completes a major in Management is not eligible to earn a major in Sport Management and Leadership with an Athletic Administration emphasis.
  • A student completing a major in Management is eligible to earn a major in Business Administration by completing two emphases of study, one for Business and one for Management.
    • Only one emphasis may be on Cooperative Education.
  • A student who completes a major in Management is eligible to earn a major in Accounting.
  • A student who completes a major in Management is not eligible to earn a minor in Business Administration, Cooperative Education, or Marketing.
  • A student may not earn both areas of emphasis if available to their major (or if selecting as an optional emphasis to add-on). It must be one or the other.
    • Management or Athletic Administration
    • Human Resource Learning and Development or Human Resource Management
    • Hospitality Management or Restaurant Entrepreneurship
