BA 799 - Advanced Public Accounting IV

Semester Hours: 3
This course is one of four courses involving intensive and comprehensive study of accounting principles, concepts, and practices and their application to subjects and topics normally dealt with by practicing public accountants. It prepares the student for taking one of the three Discipline sections of the CPA examination. The basic pedagogy for this course is the widely respected Becker CPA Review self-study program. The course content focuses on an extensive, in-depth treatment of one of the three Discipline sections of the CPA exam: a) Tax Compliance & Planning, b) Business Analysis & Reporting, c) Information Systems & Controls. Students in this course will choose one of the three Discipline sections, and the course content will be tailored to their choice. This course, however, entails much more in that it involves case studies, directed participation in classroom discussions based on extensive readings of accounting in pertinent literature, and periodic examinations.

A course fee applies to this course. Fees are for electronic course materials, specific supplies for the course or a recital or lab associated fee. See fee list on my.LAKELAND.

Pre-requisites: Completion of an undergraduate major in accounting, or its equivalent in terms of specific courses, or consent of the instructor.

Offered: Year-Round
