Major/Professional Sequence

In addition to the Interdisciplinary Studies coursework (see below) required of all Lakeland University graduates, students seeking certification to teach Technology Education will be expected to complete the following major/professional sequence and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) statutory requirements:

The following courses must be completed through Lakeland and cannot be transferred in from Lakeshore College:

EDU 140 - Introduction to Educational Technology
EDU 230 - Educational Psychology /PSY 230
EDU 330 - Human Growth and Development /PSY 330
EDU 361 - Reading in the Content Area *
EDU 371 - Teaching Techniques for Elementary through Secondary *
EDU 373 - Field Experience in Education *
EDU 432 - Survey of the Exceptional Person /PSY 432
EDU 448 - Portfolio (1 semester hour)
EDU 449 - Education Capstone Course (WI) *
EDU 460 - Student Teaching for Middle and High School (12 semester hours) *
EDU 470 - Student Teaching Seminar (2 semester hours) *
*Admission to a teacher certification program is a prerequisite for entry into these classes.

Courses completed at Lakeshore College - total of thirty (30) semester hours:

Students complete an array of courses at Lakeshore College in a variety of subjects including construction, technical education, machining, manufacturing and welding. Twenty-one (21) semester hours.
In addition to a set of core technical courses, students will also compete six (6) additional semester hours in an area of technical emphasis. Students should work with academic advisors to select all courses.
The technology courses required from Lakeland College transfer back as electives to Lakeland University.
