Ensembles (8 semesters)

Students must complete eight (8) semesters of major ensemble appropriate to their instrument/voice and participate in an appropriate ensemble each semester enrolled. Ensembles may be taken for 0 credit once required semester hours are fulfilled.

Students must enroll in applied lessons on the principal instrument/voice for eight semesters completing a total of sixteen (16) semester hours. Four (4) semester hours of principal instrument/voice must be at the 444/445 level.

Students must give two (2) recitals, typically done in the junior and senior years. The student must be enrolled in MUS 463  during the term in which each recital will be given. Scheduling and programming will be done in consultation with the student’s applied teacher and recital committee.

Piano Proficiency Test

• Students must pass a piano proficiency test; the test is given at the conclusion of MUS 259 .
• If the exam is not passed at that time, the student must enroll in Applied Piano and retake the exam in a subsequent term.
