Major Requirements (55-63 Semester Hours)

Health Science Emphasis (27 semester hours)

**Entry and continuation on this emphasis requires maintaining a 3.0 GPA

Nine (9) semester hours from the following:

Any biology (BIO), biochemistry (BIOC), or chemistry (CHM) courses at the 200-level or above
PSY 330 - Human Growth and Development
PSY 411 - Biological Psychology

Life Science Emphasis (20 semester hours)

**Required for Biology Education majors

BIO 320 - Evolution
BIO 350 - General Ecology (4 semester hours)
13 additional biology (BIO), biochemistry (BIOC), or chemistry (CHM) semester hours at the 200-level or above, with at least 8 semester hours at the 300-level or above

Teacher Certification

To qualify for Early Adolescence through Adolescence (grades 6-12) teaching certification, a student must complete the courses listed above, the Early Adolescence through Adolescence Professional Sequence, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) statutory requirements.

Notes:

A student completing a major in Biology is not eligible to earn a major in Biochemistry.
A student completing a major in Biology is not eligible to earn a minor in Science
