EDU 450 - Observation and Student Teaching for Early Childhood/Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence Level Teachers (12 semester hours) Semester Hours: 12 Students have an opportunity to teach classes under the supervision of both University faculty and a cooperating teacher from an area elementary/middle school. Student teaching is a full-day, full-semester experience which follows the semester calendar of the cooperating school. The classroom teaching experience is supplemented by required seminar sessions addressing the development of the professional portfolio.
Pre-requisites: Two semesters prior to registering for student teaching, a student must have a cumulative overall GPA of 3.0, have been accepted into the Education Program, and have received consent of the Education Program director. Completion of the Early Childhood/Middle Childhood/ Early Adolescence Professional Sequence, completion of academic major and minor areas, a passing score on the relevant Praxis II content test(s), and completion of the application process for student teaching must be accomplished prior to the student teaching semester. Must be taken concurrently with EDU 470 .
