CHM 343 - Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism Semester Hours: 3 This course will focus on the bioenergetics and metabolism of biological systems. Topics covered in this course will include glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, pentose phosphate pathway, citric acid cycle, electron transport chain, ATP synthesis, and the urea cycle. Students will also be required to understand the biochemical basis for various metabolic diseases as well as be able to understand and explain the biochemical basis for popular diet trends.
Pre-requisites: CHM 203 - Introduction to Organic Chemistry and BIO 111 - Life Sciences I (4 semester hours) .
