Associate’s Degree Requirements

In order to complete the requirements for any associate’s degree at Lakeland University, each student must:
- Complete the degree requirements listed in the “Curriculum ” section of this catalog, including the following:
- Demonstrating college-level proficiency in each of the required College Skills areas: reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Completing Distributional Studies requirements in Rhetorical Skills, Quantitative Skills, and distributional studies areas described in each degree requirements.
- Participating in the Critical Thinking Core with completion of Core I or Introduction to Honors
- Completing all additional coursework (whether specified or elective) described in “Curriculum” section of this catalog.
- Complete at least 60 semester hours of college credit, of which no more than 3 semester hours may be from GEN 095 - Foundations of English , GEN 100 - College Writing Workshop , GEN 101 - Reading Workshop , GEN 102 - Mathematics Workshop , GEN 104 - Transition to America (2 semester hours) , and GEN 105 - Learning Skills Development (2 semester hours) , or their equivalents.
- Earn a minimum of 15 semester hours of college credit through Lakeland University. Of the last 15 semester hours credited toward the degree, 12 semester hours must be earned through Lakeland University.
- Maintain a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 2.0 in the Lakeland associate’s degree curriculum, and at least 2.0 in all coursework taken through Lakeland University. Students seeking to complete the A.S. and be admitted into Columbia College of Nursing are required to maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 in all coursework.
