The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, also referred to as the Clery Act, requires that colleges and universities whose students receive federal financial aid do the following:
- To publish an annual security report regarding crimes committed on campus;
- To provide a written description of campus policies regarding security and campus safety rules;
- To compile and disclose an annual report of campus crime statistics reflecting reports of specific crimes occurring on campus, and whether such crimes are hate crimes;
- To alert the campus community to crimes that represent a threat to campus students and campus personnel;
- To disclose a daily crime log listing all crimes occurring within the jurisdiction of the campus security office.
The Vice President and Chief Financial Officer oversees the campus security office and is responsible for the implementation of the above-listed tasks.
