Sample Four-Year Plans of Study 2020-2021
The following are sample plans of course requirements to complete the Food Safety and Quality major in four years.
- Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as these plans do not include transfer work or credit for prior learning (such as Advanced Placement-AP).
- Math, English, and Reading placement is based on the student’s ACT/SAT scores or placement tests.
- If fundamental courses are required, they should be taken within the first year.
NOTE: Four-year plans assume the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semester hours may be required to complete the degree.

Food Safety and Quality Major with a Cooperative Education Emphasis (Cooperative Education Experience Track)*
*Students are required to complete twenty (20) semester hours from any combination of the following two experiential learning options: FSQ 390 and FSQ 400 . Please note that this plan is just an example of the various combinations students may choose to complete this requirement.

Food Safety and Quality Major with a Student Designed Emphasis
**Students may propose a twelve (12) semester-hour emphasis in an area of academic interest that complements their major in the J. Garland Schilcutt School of Business, Science, and Technology. Students may fulfill the emphasis requirement by completing current courses offered by the J. Garland Schilcutt School of Business, Science, and Technology, courses offered in other Schools or internship experiences that are relevant to the area of interest. This emphasis plan must be approved in advance by the student’s academic advisor and the Chair of the Business and Technology Division. Cooperative Education courses may not be used to satisfy the requirements of this emphasis.
