Organizational Leadership and Development, B.A.

Students who have successfully completed a B.A. in Organizational Leadership and Development from Lakeland University should be able to:
- Explain major concepts within functional areas of industry.
- Construct and present effective oral and written forms of professional communication.
- Identify key leadership challenges and ethical issues related to the contemporary workplace.
- Evaluate responsible and effective workplace behaviors, skills, and traits in a professional business environment.

Major Requirements (33-48 semester hours plus approved associate degree)
An approved associate degree plus the following courses:
One of the following course groupings (3 courses):
Completion of at least one of the following emphases:
- Students completing an available internship course as part of their specific emphasis must complete three (3) semester hours of the internship course.^
Business Economics (12-13 semester hours)
A student is not eligible to choose this emphasis if completing a minor in Economics.
Communication (12 semester hours)
Cooperative Education (22-26 semester hours)
*Only available to Business Administration or Organizational Leadership and Development majors.
Digital Marketing (12-13 semester hours)
Entrepreneurship (14-15 semester hours)
Finance (12-13 semester hours)
Forensic/Fraud (15 semester hours)
Graphic Design (15-16 semester hours)
A student is not eligible to choose this emphasis if completing a major in Graphic Design.
Courses offered in-person, at Lakeland’s home campus location.
Healthcare Management (12-13 semester hours)
Courses for this emphasis are typically scheduled online or in other course formats.
Hospitality Management (12-20 semester hours)
- A student is not eligible to complete this emphasis if also completing a major in Hospitality Management.
Human Resource Management (12-13 semester hours)
Insurance (15-16 semester hours)
Courses for this emphasis are typically scheduled online or in other course formats.
International Business (15-16 semester hours)
Management (12-13 semester hours)
A student is not eligible to complete an optional emphasis in Athletic Administration with Management. A student completing a major in Marketing is not eligible to use COM 111 to fulfill a course requirement in the emphasis in Management.
Marketing (15-16 semester hours)
Nonprofit Management (12-13 semester hours)
Courses for this emphasis are typically scheduled online or in other course formats.
Retail Management (15-16 semester hours)
Sales Management (12-13 semester hours)
Sport Management (15-16 semester hours)
- A student is not eligible to choose this emphasis if completing a major in Sport Management and Leadership or a minor in Sport Management.
- Courses for this emphasis can be in-person (home campus), online or in other course formats.
Student Designed (12 semester hours)
- Students may propose a twelve (12) semester-hour emphasis in an area of academic interest that complements their major in the J. Garland Schilcutt School of Business & Entrepreneurship
- Students may fulfill the emphasis requirement by completing current courses offered by the College of Business and Science, courses offered in other College of Humanities and Education, cooperative design courses, or internship experiences that are relevant to an area of interest.

Notes:
- A student completing a major in Organizational Leadership and Development with a Management emphasis is not eligible to complete a major in Sport Management and Leadership with an Athletic Administration emphasis. The student may complete a different emphasis.
- A student completing a major in Organizational Leadership and Development can also earn a major in Business Administration by completing two emphases of study, one for business, one for organizational leadership. Only one may be in Cooperative Education.
- Students may also earn a major in Accounting.
- A student completing a major in Organizational Leadership and Development is not eligible to earn a minor in Business Administration, Cooperative Education, or Marketing.
- Students pursuing two or more Business majors must select a separate emphasis area for each major, mindful of any emphasis restrictions.
