Students who have successfully completed a B.A. in History from Lakeland University should be able to:

Demonstrate a knowledge of history and the people, places, ideas, and major events that shaped it.
Construct evidence-based arguments using a variety of historical sources.
Communicate ideas clearly and professionally in both written and oral form.

Major Requirements (39-53 semester hours)

Students must choose one of the following tracks:

Cooperative Education Track

Twenty-three (22) semester hours from:

EXP 100 - Professional Protocol (1 semester hour)
EXP 301 - Work, Ethics, and the Good Life (1 semester hour)
Complete a total of twenty (20) semester hours of the following:
HIS 390 - Cooperative Education Experience–History (1-12 semester hours)
OR
EXP 290 , EXP 392 , EXP 395 - Cooperative Education Experience III (1-12 semester hours)
Students complete EXP 290, 392, and 395, in that order, for a cumulative amount of no more than twelve (12) semester hours across the three courses.
Each course may be completed only once.
The remaining semester hours must be in HIS 390

Six (6) additional semester hours in history (HIS) numbered 300 and above.

One of the courses below can partially fulfill this requirement:

Traditional Track

Nine (9) additional semester hours in history (HIS) courses numbered 200 or above.

Nine (9) additional semester hours in history (HIS) courses numbered 300 or above.

One of the following:

Three (3) additional semester hours in history (HIS) courses numbered 400 or above (no substitutions).

Note:

A student is not eligible to complete Cooperative Education requirements of other majors.
