In addition to the Interdisciplinary Studies coursework (see below) required of all Lakeland University graduates, students seeking certification to teach at the Middle and High School Education Certification level (grades 4-12) must complete an approved major and the following professional sequence:

• COM 111 - Fundamentals of Public Speaking
• EDU 100 - Introduction to Education
• EDU 140 - Introduction to Educational Technology
• EDU 230 - Educational Psychology /PSY 230  
• EDU 330 - Human Growth and Development /PSY 330  
• Teaching Techniques Course*
• EDU 361 - Reading in the Content Area
• EDU 373 - Field Experience in Education
• EDU 432 - Survey of the Exceptional Person /PSY 432  
• EDU 449 - Education Capstone Course (WI)
• EDU 460 - Student Teaching for Middle and High School (12 semester hours)
• EDU 470 - Student Teaching Seminar (2 semester hours)
• SOC 210 - Majority-Minority Relations
• One MAT course numbered 140 or above with the exception of MAT 210 - Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers
