Students who have successfully completed a B.A. in History from Lakeland University should be able to:

Demonstrate a knowledge of history and the people, places, ideas, and major events that shaped it.
Construct evidence-based arguments using a variety of historical sources.
Communicate ideas clearly and professionally in both written and oral form.

Major Requirements (39-53 semester hours)

Students must choose one of the following options:

Cooperative Education Option

Twenty-three (23) semester hours from:

EXP 100 - Professional Protocol (1 semester hour)
EXP 300 - Experiential Learning Seminar (1 semester hour)
- Co-requisite of 1^st experience of EXP 390 /HIS 390 or EXP 391 /HIS 391
EXP 301 - Work, Ethics, and the Good Life (1 semester hour)
- Co-requisite of 2^nd experience of EXP 390 /HIS 390 or EXP 391 /HIS 391
EXP 390 - Cooperative Education Experience (1-12 semester hours)
OR HIS 390 - Cooperative Education Experience–History (1-12 semester hours)
- Is completed two times, for a total of twenty to twenty-four (20-24) semester hours

- One experiences must be in HIS 390
OR Optional Learning Experience: EXP 391 - Cooperative Education Experience (0 semester hours)
OR HIS 391 - Cooperative Education Experience–History (0 semester hours)

Six (6) additional semester hours in history (HIS) numbered 300 and above.

Six (6) additional semester hours in history (HIS) numbered 300 and above.

One of the following:

Nine (9) additional semester hours in history (HIS) courses numbered 200 or above.
