Hospitality Management, B.A.

Students who have successfully completed a B.A. in Hospitality Management from Lakeland University should be able to:

  • Explain the major concepts in the functional areas of accounting, economics, marketing, finance, management, leadership, and management information systems.
  • Construct and present effective oral and written forms of professional communication.
  • Identify the key legal and ethical issues related to hospitality operations.
  • Demonstrate responsible and effective workplace behavior skills and traits in a professional business environment.
  • Evaluate a variety of outcomes to problems in the hospitality operation.
  • Apply accounting and costing skills to an operation with an end result of profitability.

Three (3) semester hours from the following:


Students must choose one of the following experiential learning options:


Option Two: Minimum of 23 up to 31 semester hours


Students must complete a minimum of 21 semester hours of cooperative education for this track in all three areas:

Notes:


  • Students who start in one option and move to another should consult with and gain approval from their advisor. Student and advisor will identify remaining major requirements on an individual basis.
  • Students who change options and have experience in housekeeping/lodging must complete experiences in food and beverage, and vice versa.
  • A student completing a major in Hospitality Management is not eligible to earn a major in Business Administration with a Hospitality Management or Management Emphasis. The student may complete a major in Business Administration with a different emphasis.
  • A student completing a major in Hospitality Management is not eligible to earn a minor in Business Administration or Cooperative Education.
    • A student is not eligible to complete Cooperative Education emphasis requirements of other majors.
