Center for Advanced Disciplinary Studies


Accounting Graduate Certificate


The Accounting Graduate Certificate allows students to gain advanced disciplinary training in accounting. The certificate courses invite students to apply their disciplinary content to a range of intellectual and practical questions. The program is open to students who have completed bachelor’s degrees and who have been accepted for enrollment through the Center for Advanced Disciplinary Studies.

Students who have successfully completed the Accounting Graduate Certificate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced disciplinary knowledge in the appropriate content area.
  • Apply disciplinary theories and knowledge to new contexts.

Accounting Graduate Certificate Requirements (18 semester hours):

  • The Accounting Graduate Certificate is delivered in conjunction with Lakeland University’s Center for Advanced Disciplinary Studies.
  • Students must earn a cumulative 3.0 GPA in order to earn this certificate.
  • Certificates are awarded from the William R. Kellett School of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies and do not appear on Lakeland transcripts.

Biology Graduate Certificate


The Biology Graduate Certificate allows students to gain advanced disciplinary training in biology. The certificate courses invite students to apply their disciplinary content to a range of intellectual and practical questions. The program is open to students who have completed bachelor’s degrees and who have been accepted for enrollment through the Center for Advanced Disciplinary Studies.

The certificate courses invite students to apply their disciplinary content to a range of intellectual and practical questions. The program is open to students who have completed bachelor’s degrees and who have been accepted for enrollment through the Center for Advanced Disciplinary Studies.

Students who have successfully completed the Communication Graduate Certificate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced disciplinary knowledge in the appropriate content area.
  • Apply disciplinary theories and knowledge to new contexts.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Graduate Certificate


English as a Second Language (ESL) Graduate Certificate Requirements (9 semester hours):

  • Students interested in completing the ESL Graduate Certificate should contact an academic advisor in order to declare intention to complete this certificate.

Kodály Certificate Program


The Kodály Certificate Program offers professional development for working educators culminating in a certification in Kodály methodology. This degree is 20 semester hours and includes three summers with two weeks on campus each summer. The course includes Kodály Levels I-III. First summer would include the following courses: Kodály Methods I (includes the First Steps of Music curriculum), Solfege I, Folk Song History and Research I, Choir, and a Special Topics course. Students usually take 6-7 semester hours each summer.

The Human Resources Graduate Certificate provides students with broad graduate training in human resource management.
