Mathematics Minor

Students who have successfully completed a minor in Mathematics from Lakeland University should be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of algebra, analysis, and geometry.
Formulate precise definitions, clearly state theorems, and construct formal proofs.
Solve problems and relate math to applications.

Minor Requirements (26-27 semester hours)

For Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence Education Certification (grades 1-8)

MAT 231 - Calculus I (4 semester hours)
MAT 242 - Calculus II (4 semester hours)
MAT 250 - Discrete Mathematics
MAT 322 - College Geometry (WI)
MAT 330 - Mathematical Statistics
Six (6) additional semester hours in mathematics (MAT) courses numbered at or above 280

To qualify for Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence (grades 1-8) teaching certification in mathematics, a student must complete the courses listed above, the Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence Education Major/Professional Sequence and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) statutory requirements.
