Academic Assessment at Lakeland University
We believe that the process of educating students is not complete until the university’s faculty has thoroughly assessed student performance and used this feedback information to fine-tune, among other things, an academic program’s content, instruction, and measurement instruments.
To this end, each of the university’s major and minor programs follows its own comprehensive assessment plan. The various measures of student learning that we obtain through these assessment plans are analyzed annually.
One of the most important aspects of any academic assessment plan is the set of overall expectations that faculty determine for their programs. Readers of this catalog will notice that for each major or minor described on the following pages, we have included a short list of program learning outcomes, which the faculty has identified as core points of knowledge, skill or ability that students should be able to demonstrate upon completion of that program.
