ACC 493 - Managerial Accounting Analysis (WI) Semester Hours: 3 (Writing-Intensive) The broad objective of this course is to enhance the study of managerial and cost accounting topics acquired from a managerial accounting principles course. The primary focus will be on developing critical thinking and analytical skills by using a case study approach to apply these topics to real-world scenarios. A secondary focus will be to expand a student’s skill set in using Microsoft Excel which is the predominant software used in managerial accounting to analyze financial data. Students will also learn about other emerging technologies in the accounting field. This course is writing intensive. Therefore, students will be expected to write reports communicating the results of their analysis from the case studies. Students are expected to have the most updated version of Microsoft Excel for this course.

Pre-requisites: ACC 220 Managerial Accounting Principles - earning a grade of “C” or better, BUS 301 Management Information Systems - earning a grade of “C” or better, AND GEN 112 Composition II: Argumentation and Research , or an Associate Degree in Accounting.
