SPA 103 - Spanish for Heritage & Bilingual Speakers I (4 semester hours) Semester Hours: 4 SPA 103: Spanish for Heritage & Bilingual Speakers I is the first course in the series for native and bilingual Spanish speakers aiming at improving their oral and writing skills, further developing their knowledge of Spanish language and culture. The course serves as a bridge between informal Spanish –often learned at home– and formal spoken and written variations required at school, the workplace, and professional settings. The main goals are to develop proficiency in standard Spanish while developing a greater understanding of the Spanish-speaking cultures with focus on the Hispanic/Latino culture in the United States. The emphasis in this course is placed on writing (spelling, accents, punctuation, among others) as well as reading (comprehension).
Pre-requisites: None, course conducted mostly in Spanish.
Offered: Occasionally in Fall.
