BIOC 100 - General, Organic and Biochemistry (4 semester hours)

This course examines the fundamentals of chemistry in order to understand the basic characteristics of biological compounds. Students will explore the importance of acid and base interactions with biological macromolecules; chemical properties of soap including bonding characteristics due to intermolecular forces, micellar formation and emulsification properties; and an introduction to enzyme properties.
