GEN 312 - Core II: Gender and Sexuality Semester Hours: 3 In this course we will draw on a variety of disciplines, including sociology, history, literature, and philosophy, to explore evolving understandings of gender and sexuality across cultures, geographies, and time. Students will analyze contemporary issues relevant to gender equality and LGBTQIA2S+ rights in the context of historical underpinnings through class discussion, written work, and other projects. We will also examine how issues in gender studies intersect with class, race, religion, and disability. Texts are as diverse as the topic, covering formal gender theory, biological and evolutionary findings, personal narrative, art, literature, and film.
Pre-requisites: GEN 130 - Core I: Foundations of Critical Thinking , sophomore standing or above, and GEN 112 - Composition II: Argumentation and Research .
