GEN 312 - Core II: Gender and Sexuality Semester Hours: 3 One of the central questions of the human condition is explored in this course: how does biological sex influence the performance and perception of gender and sexual identity? Students will analyze the biological and sociological debates about gender that have persisted throughout history and across cultures through a combination of class discussion, historical study, formal presentations, and written work. Texts are as diverse as the topic, covering formal gender theory, sociological research, biological and evolutionary arguments, personal narrative, art, literature, and film.
Pre-requisites: GEN 130 - Core I: Foundations of Critical Thinking , sophomore standing or above, and GEN 112 - Composition II: Argumentation and Research .
