EDU 371 - Teaching Techniques for Elementary through Secondary Semester Hours: 3 Through careful consideration of the role of the teacher in relation to the principles and practices of the secondary and middle schools, this course emphasizes the organization of the secondary and middle schools, including its programs, objectives, and planning as well as the selection and organization of learning experiences, and assessments, working with school personnel, promoting family and community involvement in the schools, career preparation and preparation of pupils for work. Classroom organization, management, and discipline will also be covered. Students will focus on the secondary/middle school methods in their major and minor subject areas.
Pre-requisites: EDU 100 - Introduction to Education , EDU 330 /PSY 330 - Human Growth and Development , junior standing, and consent of the Director of the Center for Teacher Excellence, OR EDU 330 /PSY 330 - Human Growth and Development and admission to the Education Program.
