BIOC 100 - General, Organic and Biochemistry (4 semester hours)

Semester Hours: 4
This course examines the fundamentals of chemistry in order to understand the basic characteristics of biological compounds. Students will explore the importance of acid and base interactions with biological macromolecules; chemical properties of soap including the bonding characteristics due to intermolecular forces, micellar formation and emulsification properties; and an introduction to enzyme properties.
