ED 724 - Teaching Methods in ESLSemester Hours: 3 This is one of the courses required for preparation for ESL certification. The first half of this course includes study and demonstration of general methods for teaching English as a Second Language. The second half includes study and demonstration of methods for teaching academic content to ESL students. Both sections focus on instructed language acquisition (early childhood through adolescence) and include assessment methods, curriculum development, and materials evaluation.
Pre-requisites: admission to the Education Program or consent from the Director of the Center for Teacher Excellence, EN 780 - The English Language , ES 721 - English Grammar , ES 722 - Second Language Acquisition and Applied Linguistics , and foreign language study.
