BIOC 100 - General, Organic and Biochemistry (4 semester hours)

Semester Hours: 4
This course examines how acids and bases interact with biological macromolecules; chemical properties of soap including bonding characteristics due to intermolecular forces, micellar formation and emulsification properties; and an introduction to enzyme properties.

Pre-requisites: none.

Note: Approval is needed to pursue the Food Safety and Quality program’s Science Pathway B from the Chair of the Natural Science Division.
