BIO 245 - Gateway to SustainabilitySemester Hours: 3 This course examines the fundamental incompatibility of increasing human population in combination with increasing per capita resource consumption on a finite planet, with sustaining the biosphere of that planet. This course is designed to introduce students to the scientific concepts associated with sustainability and the cyclical nature of biological, geological, and chemical systems on Earth. Students successfully completing the course will be conversant in the language and concepts of sustainability, and will be equipped for further coursework associated with sustainable practices.
Pre-requisites: BIO 101 - Environmental Science or BIO 111 - Life Sciences I or CHM 200 - Earth Sciences or CHM 131 - General Chemistry.
Offered: Fall, odd years.
