ESS 323 - Introduction to Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation (1 semester hour)

Semester Hours: 1
This course will review of relevant anatomical structures and the medical terminology associated with surgery for a variety of orthopedic issues. Students will review a variety of orthopedic surgery procedures via video, including the identification of pathology and surgical interventions. An overview of post-surgery rehabilitation will be provided. Students will integrate previous coursework and apply concepts related to the rehabilitation of patients.

Pre-requisites: ESS 135 - Medical Terminology (2 semester hours) , ESS 143 - Introduction to Exercise Science , BIO 211 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I (4 semester hours) , BIO 212 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II (4 semester hours) , and ESS 322 - Introduction to Physical Rehabilitation (1 semester hour) , each with a grade of a C or better. Or, consent of the ESS program faculty.
