Tuition and Health Insurances

GradGuard Tuition Insurance  

As of Fall 2024, Lakeland University has partnered with GradGuard, an optional Tuition Insurance that provides reimbursement when a student can’t complete an academic term for a covered medical withdrawal such as a serious injury or illness, chronic illness, or mental health condition.

• Covered expenses may include tuition, room and board, or other university fees.  
• Students can sign up for this optional insurance through Transact (Cashnet) each semester prior to add/drop.  
• Coverage is automatically set at $23,000 per semester.
  • Students may adjust their coverage amount by reaching out to GradGuard directly.
  • Reducing the coverage amount will also reduce the cost per semester. 
• Prior to enrollment, students must acknowledge Lakeland’s Refund Policy.  

Health Insurance Policy 

• All students residing in on-campus housing are required to carry health insurance.
• Student-athletes may have additional, specific medical insurance requirements.
• Students enrolled through an individual or parent plan should verify through their insurance provider that coverage is appropriate.
• This is especially important for students attending from out-of-state. 
• Students with additional questions are encouraged to contact Human Resources. 

International Student Mandatory Health Insurance Policy 

• It is mandatory for all international students to register and pay for health insurance for the entire period of their stay in the United States as Lakeland University students. 
• It is Lakeland’s policy to automatically enroll international students in its student health insurance plan.  
• The plan begins August 1 and runs through July 31 of the following year. 
  • The policy must be renewed each year.  
• Upon graduation or withdrawal from the university, a student may request a refund, through the Business Office for partial year costs.  
  • International Students should contact the Registrar’s Office for additional information.
