Payment, Financial Aid and Credit Policies

All students are required to electronically sign a Lakeland University Disclosure Agreement as part of the registration process. If the student is under 18 years of age, all documents will need to be printed and signed by a parent or guardian.

The cost of tuition, fees, room, and/or board is due and payable to the university in full on the following schedule:

  1. Fall Term – August 15

  1. Spring Term – January 15

  1. Summer Term – May 15

Payment is due on the 15th regardless of whether the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday.

Domestic students whose balances are not paid in full on or before the published due dates OR have not already enrolled in an appropriate payment plan will be removed from their Blackboard shell and/or have their meal plan suspended. Finance charges are suppressed for students on a payment plan. Balances owed to the university shall be paid in accordance with the payment plan terms. If payment is not received in accordance with the terms of the payment plan, a student may be administratively withdrawn from the university. Students with unpaid balances will not be allowed to enroll in the following academic term.

Financial aid will be credited to the student’s account and listed on invoices and statements. Students must apply for institutional, state, and federal financial aid and loans. These aid types will only be credited to a student’s account if all application forms are completed, signed and all required documents received. Students are responsible to the university for all balances due, including those created by the late or incomplete submission of financial aid application forms. Finance charges may be incurred if these procedures are not completed on time.

The general policies outlined in this section include the types of credit that may be advanced and the deadlines for repayment to the university or other agencies. Students who believe they have grounds for appeal with regards to their bill and/or payment of expenses owed to Lakeland University should complete a Tuition/Fees Dispute Petition and forward it to the Bursar’s Office.

Health Insurance Policy

Lakeland University requires all residential students to carry health insurance while living on campus. Student-athletes may have additional, specific medical insurance requirements. Students enrolled through an individual or parent plan should verify through their insurance provider that coverage is appropriate. This is especially important for students attending from out-of-state.

Students who are uninsured or under-insured may elect to enroll in Lakeland’s student health insurance plan; this plan provides coverage to meet NCAA requirements of student-athletes. Information regarding the Student Health Insurance plans may be obtained from my.lakeland.edu. Students with additional questions are encouraged to contact Human Resources.

Health Insurance Policy for International Students

It is mandatory for all international students to register and pay for health insurance for the entire period of their stay in the United States as Lakeland University students. It is Lakeland’s policy to automatically enroll international students in its student health insurance plan. The plan begins August 1 and runs through July 31 of the following year. The policy must be renewed each year. Upon graduation or withdrawal from the university, a student may request a refund, through the Business Office, of partial year costs. International Students should contact the Registrar’s Office for additional information.
