Lakeland’s J. Garland Schilcutt School of Business and Entrepreneurship encourages students to add emphasis areas to their degree program in order to strengthen their knowledge base. Several programs require students to complete an emphasis area, and others offer emphasis completion as an option.
The Business Administration major, the Hospitality Management major, the Marketing major, the Specialized Administration major and the Sport Management and Leadership major all require the completion of at least one of the emphases explicitly associated with each program. However, students in Business Administration, Marketing, and Specialized Administration may complete an emphasis outside of their program designation as well, provided they have completed the appropriate prerequisites, and students in Sport Management and Leadership may choose to complete more than one emphasis associated with that major.
Students majoring in two or more programs requiring completion of an emphasis from the J. Garland Schilcutt School of Business and Entrepreneurship must complete their program requirements with a separate emphasis area for each major. Students majoring in Accounting and Management Information Systems may also select an approved emphasis area to supplement their primary academic program, provided they have completed the appropriate prerequisites:
+ = Emphasis not required to complete major; optional only.
* = Major program requires completion of an emphasis.
1 = Satisfies emphasis requirement or can be a second emphasis option.
2 = Can only be a second emphasis to supplement major; does not satisfy program requirement.
– = Can not be used as emphasis for program.
